What it is for

Reduces the cost of filing and prosecuting patents for Karnataka startups, encouraging IP creation, covering both domestic and international filings.

Who can apply

All KITS-registered startups in Karnataka; provisional patents and patents with a change of assignee are not eligible; up to 5 unique patent applications per startup per year.

What you get

75% of actual patent-filing expenses reimbursed, capped at INR 15 lakh per year, up to 5 claims per year. 60% of the 75% reimbursed immediately on proof of filing; remaining 40% on verification.

How to apply

Apply online at the fiscal incentive application portal with bank statements, notarized affidavit, and relevant invoices/receipts.

Best suited for

Karnataka startups actively filing domestic or international patents who want to offset filing and prosecution costs.
